Description
Book cover for Legacy Soldier.
When eighteen-year-old Mark Taylor joins an FTL development project, he discovers his telepathy and scientific aptitude are no genetic accident. Mark is a hybrid, crossbred with the genetically altered descendants of a lost human colony, Ganesha, who secretly returned to Earth to save their civilization from extinction. Mark works with Carine, a fellow hybrid raised in a private military academy. Despite rules against fraternization, the two become close. Mark begins to feel, for the first time, that he’s found his place.
When word arrives of hostile alien warships en route to Earth, Carine is mobilized with other hybrid soldiers to intercept them. Not willing to lose her, Mark joins the hybrids knowing he has only weeks to achieve the proficiency that Carine has trained her entire life to achieve. With her help, Mark begins rigorous training to unlock the tactical knowledge and memories buried in his subconscious. As a battle plan is developed, Mark struggles to harness the tactical and technical knowledge trapped in his subconscious before facing the monsters from his nightmares. Failure guarantees the death of the woman he loves and the loss of both civilizations that gave birth to him.
This is the stasis chamber, just before he wakes up on the military ship. It needed to be simple, as per the author, yet still say SF. 257 objects. 10 lights. A month's work. Much harder than it appears it should have been. And more fun than I thought it would be. I don't do a lot of SF. But it was so much fun I'm doing another SF image just for my own personal work. Though I tend more toward B movie themes, so be on the lookout.
