Description

Good morning everyone. I need someone to identify this lovely plant that has appeared in my garden. It is now about 18" tall and has really big leaves. From the way that it is showing flowers, which are dying from the base up,I wondered if it could be the Candelabra type. Any help would be appreciated.

Great shot, Jenny. It does me think of a Primula on first site. In English: Primula elatior, the oxlip (or True oxlip) Just what Juliette says. But it is indeed growing very large in your garden. :D

Beautiful image Jenny. I have no clue what that is, but it sounds like Juliette and Mies have identified it for you.

It looks like a candelabra, but they do hybridise with the ordinary type I have heard. I have a shot of mass planting of these somewhere in my gallery - Candelabra Primulas - for Andrea from 6th June 2010. I dont know how to do a direct link to it if you want to compare.

Well, I was gonna say primrose, so I guess I was close. A candelabra primrose, huh? Cool. All our primroses are shorties...little 'votives' maybe? Show us the rest of your garden!
