My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Nice place and great photo.

I see redwoods, I see lush greenery, and for some odd reason, I expect to see Ewoks. Okay, maybe I've seen Return of the Jedi too many times, and the "forest moon of Endor" was (in all actuality) not very far from the spot you took this photo. Funny how that works out, ain't it? Just point a camera away from roads and such and voila you're somewhere else, even in a galaxy far, far away, never mind that redwoods only grow on earth, as far as we know. Oh well. I suppose I should say that the above portion of this comment really doesn't have much to do with anything, except maybe an obsessive amount of movie trivia, but there you have it. I've gone spinning off to other places simply because of a super photograph. I love the lush greenery, and the visual implications of silence...or near silence. I'm from the midwest, ya know, and so I can't imagine actual silence: we've got too many cicadas and crickets for that. But still, I can sense the silence. I love the name of this place, too; it sounds like something that deserves a Basil Polidorius or Jerry Goldsmith or Bear McCreary musical accompanying score. And now, after more rambling, I'll say that I love this shot! It's simply gorgeous!

Nice work! Superb capture of these California giants. Beautiful, lush colors. These trees are relatively young. Someday you must visit Sequoia National Park and see their grandparents.

Oh my gosh, this is marvelous. The lushness, the light and the feeling of solitude are all caught here. I would love to see this up close and personal some day ;)

Beautiful shot Tara and I read somewhere many years ago that these trees have soft bark for protection against lightning strikes. They protect themselves by shredding their bark in the event and by so doing they protect their core. Not a lot of people knew that I bet!!!!! Jeff.

WOW! It looks like a place, I would love to visit... also before all the tourists. Looks fantastic with the green cover of the ground. Looks like you could lie down in its softness... and get really wet :)Back to earth. LOL !
