My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Very nice capture of the pattern & grain

how beautiful--is it really a pilot's seat? wow!!
Chipka
I wanna meet the kinds of pilots who sit on such elegant seating! I love the grain in this and the color! Amazing what you'd find in...a...hangar? WOW! This rocks. It gives me the image of Wright Bothers-Era pilots, probably wearing scarves and goggles and drinking sasafras tea with a bit of "spritz" which is something that I must made up, though I suspect it's just seltzer water. Who knows? My mind just spits stuff out at random. Great pictures sometimes cause that and so after I write this comment, I'm gonna just stare at this one a bit more and see what stories it tell. There are stories in here, and I just love that!

My initial thought was, "Piloting what? The front porch?" And then I remembered that planes were once very primitive affairs. This seat looks amazingly uncomfortable. My butt hurts just looking at it. A very nice capture, though. Love the detailing in the grain, texture and lighting.

The color of the surface, the cutout - brilliantly sum!

Lends credence to the term 'flying by the seat of your pants'! Stunning, Clive

Ah, yes... A display I walked right by without so much as pausing to read the sign. When will I learn? For some reason, days of wine, roses and wicker comes to mind. Too many old movies I suspect;-) Fine photo...light, shadows, texture...and history.

Stunning compo, light and mood in this elegant reminder of older days...classic Tara!!

Love the warm light, the textures and forms...wonderful abstraction. I remember Tillamook - famous for its cheeses! We went to a cheese factory there many years ago.

WOW! Is it really a pilot seat? I would never have guessed that. Excellent shot though.

Wonderful old bentwood and rattan. Superb capture of the patina and binding.

Hmmm! wouldn't recommend this as a replacement for Bills 'pilot seat' in the RV, you'd be lucky to do 5 miles a day :-) Love the colour and texture in this, a real bit of aviation history (that's probably best left in the past).......
