My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Don't you just love discovering these colorful little bits hiding in the shadows? A wonderful macro - the flower almost seems to glow. Excellent, Tara!

My mother used to scold me to stand up straight and hold my head up. But you miss so much when you do that! Magical is the word for this.

I like Mark's comment and agree. We so often miss the little things below while staring at the large things above. Amazing little bloom fighting for it's beautiful existance under the canopy of Redwoods. Great find Dierbaar and a marvelous image. Mis jou ook vrek baie. Ons moet kyk of ons more kan opvang. xxx

I love how this seems merely a split moment in beautiful time.

For completely unrelated reasons, this makes me think of the Ursula K. LeGuin novel, The Word for World is Forest...one of my favorite novels. There was a description of the forest of another world and it focused on the shadows, the endless, dark shadows, and the small things living unseen...and for quite obvious reasons, this image reminds me of that, especially since the Redwoods are so impressive and yet other impressive things live in their shadow. This is really super, and well, if it makes me think of the elegantly clever Ms. LeGuin, that's a good thing too. On its own, without science fictional references, this is supremely gorgeous!
