Working the theory and its suggested solution ??????
Following directly on from yesterday and my continuing ABIS story.
Silence reigned in the Conference Room. Some were still getting over the shock of finding out what had caused the booster to fail in the first place, whilst other’s who had got over the first shock were struck dumb by the solution which had been offered by Johnson. Even Carter seemed at a loss for words but quickly recovered and looking at Johnson started asking the first of the many questions which were forming in his mind. “How long have you had this solution Matt”? Carter, never one to remain formal with anyone for long had swiftly made the decision that first names would be used from now on. “One of my people came to me just over five months ago with the theory and the idea for solving it” said Johnson. “I listened to what she had to say, we discussed it for most of the morning and after lunch I called her in and gave her the go-head to start putting together a small team from within the PAM Division and let her have access to other resources”. “one of the first thing’s she did was look at the PAM units we had in storage to see if any of them would do the job or could been adapted to do the job”. “Luckily for us the old units we had were compatible with the new units we had on order and which were due for delivery within a couple of weeks”. “The next thing on the list was to get design schematics for the underside of the ML-1 Test Article and design a series of clips with explosive bolts to hold the PAM’s in place”. “Whilst all this was on-going the team started creating computer models to allow for, and test, every possible variable to counteract the POGO occurrence using the PAM’s and two months ago we had the re-designed PAM’s on the test bed and started integrating the electronics for radio control from the ground”. “I had considered coming to you with my engineers theory when she first came to me but wanted to see how the various computer models worked out first”. “Sounds like your people have been pretty busy with this, has it had any sort of effect with the normal work within the Division” asked Carter? “No sir” replied Johnson. “Most of the work has been done either after hours or most of them have been coming in at weekends, so the Divisions normal work is not only on track but most of the extra work may find its place with the Division’s required work as well so it’s been a bonus all the way round”. “Tell your people from me well done” said Carter. Also tell them to log EVERY hour they have put in on this as overtime, I want them paying for this work and we will have to work out some sort of extra bonus for the lady who came to you with the idea in the first place”. “You and your people worked the way I like my people to work, you saw a problem and went out and did what was necessary to solve it”.

I want to work for Carter...sounds like my kind of boss!The working on your own time and weekends sounds like me, I've done a fair bit of that...but in the real world, no-one thinks to pay you for it... A couple of references to 'she' and 'the lady' and none of the usual detail...is there a twist in this?.... This would make a great film script......
