Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Stellar. Looks like an abstract. Glad you 'survived' the games!

A great picture! A friend of mine who was a high ranking British civil servant was in Washington on White House business and was told by his hosts he was to be taken out for a very special treat reserved for only certain guests. Hoping for a meal at a posh eatery, he was amazed to be told to dress casually and, you guessed, it was a baseball game. Like me he is not a watcher of sport, doesn't like noise and mess and can't stand fast food, but he made the most of it!

I've only ever been to 1 and that was after seeing 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'!

I didn't know that about the halo. Nice capture. Here is a link to George Carlin's comparison between football and baseball for those like Andrea's friend born without the sports gene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om_yq4L3M_I or if you'd rather read it: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/humor7.shtml

You ate all those peanuts? I hate to think what that would have done to my colon. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim....a veritable oxymoron. Nonetheless, I've been to that stadium in Anaheim to watch the Angels play, and I'm familiar with the big 'A' structure also. Anyway, cool long distance capture, M!

I knew that haloed "A" immediately; I've been to a number of games at Angel Stadium over the years. Excellent capture!

I lack the sports gene and so when I saw this, all I thought was: Oooh, that must be one of those things people keep talking about when they talk about nouns...and then I thought (without reading the commentary) that it was probably some newfangled sort of device for drawing water out of air. And then, to my surprise, after reading, I learned what it is and I have to say that even with my lack of the sports gene, I think it's a cool idea. Every team should have a letter with a halo that lights up. Chicago would have two, since we have the crosstown rivals, and even without the sports gene, I have to say that I think I'm very slightly partial to the Cubs (only because they're the "North Side" team.) And so having said all of that, I'll also admit to having been to a game. Once. A long time ago in a ballpark on Addison Street. Oh, no...wait...I've been to two! Okay, I might not have a sports gene, but I suspect I might have a sports chromosome fragment. Anyway, now that I've rambled on and on, about something...I'll have to say that I like this shot. It's a marvelous abstract and also a great piece of iconic photography. Hmmm...there's an idea. Photographing cultural icons...you're onto something here!

So, baseball games on both coasts - how good is that? Always good to enjoy something that you like and be out in the fresh air surrounded with beverages and snacks. Dana
