Description

That would be Bossie_Boots and Rainastorm, specifically. There are other ponds, besides Burghley House, that feature these gorgeous and gracious life forms. Captured 7/1/10, at the beautiful Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, on the beautiful campus of California State University Long Beach, in beautiful Long Beach, California. ZOOM for better detail. The use of a polarizer really helped eliminate reflections during this visit to the pond. My first visit to the lovely Japanese Garden was in 12/05, and since then I've returned about three times for more pics, of which I have plenty of in my files. At least one of those times I found to my chagrin that the entire lot of the fish had been decimated by a deadly koi virus, so the entire pond had to be decontaminated/disinfected and restocked with young koi/carp. It took close to a year for the fish to return to at least half the number of their former selves. I'm tempted to go back soon, with camera in hand, to see if they have attained the goal of a full elbow-to-elbow, or fin-to-fin, population. If they have, then you know what to expect after I process and postwork the fotos. Plus it's light years better than taking photos in a chaotic, noisy and overcrowded aquarium. Ta-ta, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

The images of these fish are just so colourful and lively, those artistic patterns are most unusual, my guess - none of them ever look the same ? AB-FAB, BB
