Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Astonishing to think that anyone would do that! This is a really moody looking piece of rock. I could give myself nightmares just thinking about climbing the first 10 feet.

If I want to get up in the air I can take a plane, thank you very much. Besides, once they get up to the top they just have to come back down again. This is a fantastic shot. The fog/mist/clouds bump up the visual interest wonderfully well.

Wow, what a wonderful shot of this massive cliff! No, I'd not even try climbing it, much less sleep hanging off of it!

Stellar mood atmosphere shot of this moody mountain, Marilyn. Kind of reminds me of the mountain, shapewise, in the movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

A fantastic climb I would imagine, but a little too dedicated for me. I prefer my bed at night.

Did you see the article in the Geographic a couple months ago? They're doing what they call 'speed climbing' up there now. The record for climbing El Capitan is just a little over two and a half HOURS. That's free climbing, of course. The ultimate in crazy!

Amazing shot! I know this isn't Devil's Tower, and yet the similarities are striking (the same geological forces created them, ya know) and I keep expecting to see that giant Steven Spielberg Mother Ship looming over it, just before spewing out that rather high-pitched 5-note musical message that defined the entire ending of Close Encounters of the Third Kind...hmmm...and I just had the image of someone sleeping in a hammock on the side of that just as that huge, merry-go-round on steroids does that hovering thing. Anyway, enough rambling. What a shot! I love the ragged mist. It does add a certain mystique to this already wonderfully evocative shot. There's a bit on the right side of this shot that looks as if the mist has decided to be a waterfall. I really like that. I like this shot a whole heck of a lot. It rocks. Hmmm...was that a pun?

A fantastic shot of El Capitan and no way anyone is going to get me to climb up that rock face. Dana

Wonderful shot! A different look at an oft photographed landmark. Well done!
