Description
This is Hetch Hetchy Reseervoir which was created by the damming of the Tuolomne River. The O'Shaughnessy Dam is another of those most amazing feats of engineering. I'm fascinated by the things men could do back in the day before computers and electronic technology!!
The reservoir provides water for most of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Excellent images. I've never seen Hetch Hetchy. The valley was said to have rivaled Yosemite in beauty. There are proposals by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the State of California to remove the dam and restore the valley.

I used think that things in the past were plain and old- fashioned compared to today. But as I myself age, I'm learning that many things in the past were built better than they do it today! Whodathunkit! Great shots.

I had heard the same as Mark ... that the now-flooded valley was absolutely stunning before they built the dam and filled it with water. Your photographs are wonderful! The one of the lake in particular makes me wonder what it would look like now if they drained it.
