My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Wonderful capture, Tara and nice description

Well, I've seen these in the air; they're huge. The little pieces of things you shoot are so cool; you see things no one else does, or at least not the way we see them!!

this does smile well as the colors laugh and enjoy warm hugs, Linda Kaye

It's the small things that make up the big things!

I gotta say, I loves me some good Sikorsky. Those are some amazing (and deadly) machines, and I've loved them since the very first one I saw way back in the twentieth century. Your pieces-and-parts shot are always amazing. There really IS so much to see when one stops and simply looks, and sometimes that means getting close to something and not really seeing the whole thing. You see so much more of it that way. Nice. Very nice. That military non-color is excellent as is the formation light.

Always the man's fault, just like my missus!! Yet another riveting shot Tara.

My first guess was a plane, close enough :-) Great shot, I LOVE green

I don't give a tinker's cuss what it's called but it is a super image!

Cool shot!!

This proves that one should zoom on each and every one of the 200-400 images taken daily by a digital photographer off shooting wherever he/she may be...in your own backyard or in Tangiers:) You've scooped a detail on this old green helicopter I never noticed. And then you postworked this into a fascinating abstract that still has me scratching my head. The shadows tell the story for me here. This little plate with the even littler light is standing out several inches away from the side of the helicopter...there's a perfectly good reason for it which I simply can't fathom...but that makes this all the more abstract! Love it.

I knew there was reason you got married! ;-) The great thing about your images is that, while most people only see the forest, you see the trees with all there overlooked details. The more you look at this image the more you see that there is a lot going on. I start to notice the precision and pattern of the rivets, the dark negative space at bottom left and then this rather striking red 'thing'. Can't tell what it is without a program but you've highlighted the design elements perfectly.

A wonderful abstract, Tara! As big as a Green Giant is, you should find lots of details on this bird for great abstracts! Just brilliant, my dear friend!

That's the way Tara! Blame it on the hubby! lol Great quiz this would have made and I would have lost....aside from...it's from a helicopter...of some kind! Good one and thanks for the shout :-) Rob

Good cropping on that picture and nice composition

Thanks Tara. I would have gone nuts trying to figure this one out. I agree with Marilyn (beachzz) on the eye you have for the unusual and I agree with Rob (debbielove) on trying to figure this one out. I don't thing I would would have been able to tell that this is part of a helicopter despite the fact that I have seen them over there (Vietnam). Its nice to have an in-house expert around you can go to for difficult questions, right? lol
MrsRatbag
I wouldn't have fussed about what it was; I'd just enjoy the compo and all the little shapes and shadows! Well done!
