Description

Adjusting to my new schedule has really cut into my "creative time" while I figure out how to balance my far-too-many interests. I'm likely to be absent even more as I'm gearing up for the renaissance-festival season and have alot of stuff to put together. On the plus side, I made an all-new shaman/warlock staff that is almost complete so you'll get to see pictures of that eventually, and of course there'll be some pictures of costumes and such from the festivals as always, but I digress. This was started weeks ago, and sat unfinished for a very long time. Even after I finally finished modeling and rendering it languished in my usual post-working cycle due to my lack of focus on anything other than work, eat and sleep. It started out as a desire to make a couple of new modules that were inspired by some excellent photos I obtained from the Space station's newer additions. What inspired this particular one was the container that the Shuttles have used for ferrying supplies to/from the station is going to be permanently berthed at the station this time, because no other launchers could support it. So NASA's making the wise choice of NOT throwing it away but adding a nice volume of pressurized storage to the station. Anyway, the station was modeled in Bryce 6.5, and most of the textures are my own creations. The planet, other background and assorted post-working was all done in Photoshop CS3. Thanks for taking a look, and have a great weekend everyone.

Very nice! The module arrange definitively looks a bit like the space station, too. Great materials.

Nice work, I find this one more realistic than the others... I like this new module.

Excellent shot of the space station. The background gives a clue that the shot was taken in the future - either the moon has developed an atmosphere, or the oceans have boiled off the Earth (some tricky temporal syntax in that statement, but you know what I mean...). I look forward to the shaman suit, as always..

Incredible work as always, Mike! You make these look so real, my friend! Sad to see the shuttle program drawing to a close. Guess we'll be hitching a ride on Vostoks for a while... I can relate to the real life stuff cutting into your creative time - it's really thrown a wrench into the works for me as well.. :-P

Excellent work and as always, I'm intrigued by the story possibilities that just ooze from your work. I love the solar panel arrays and the way everything looks realistic, functional, and alive with the sort of creative license that makes space art so intriguing. I suspect that's what I like about science fictional artwork, the fact that it DOES have to have a basis in reality, but should also show potential as well...you do that so incredibly well, whether its within your own universe, or within Nemaea, or anywhere in between. I really like this quite a lot and I look forward to seeing that Shaman staff too!
