Description

Believe it or not, this is how I relax! I'm racing to finish getting ready for the first renaissance festival of the season, so naturally I had to take a break and let off some steam. Although, considering the temperatures were very nearly above the normal human body temperature and the humidity was soaring I might have been steaming myself instead of blowing off said steam... Anyway, to give a sense of scale, the top rock in this stack is slightly smaller than a typical soccer ball. No glue, no Photoshop trickery, this is just gravity and friction! And yes, I'm sure there's no end of innuendo that can come from that last statement! Thanks for taking a look everyone, hopefully I'll have some good pictures from the faire for you to see later this weekend!

ah yes! the subtle comments and thought flit across my mind in an endless stream of observations and statements that would mayhaps get me banned from this site for eternity So I'll just say nice work and let it go at that

Thinking of another famous leaning tower named for the city in which it...um...leans...I figured a good name for this one would be: The Leaning Tower of FrontYardia...and now the problem is finding such a country on a map. I suspect it's across the river from Sidewalkia which is just over there by Lithuania...or is it Canada? I can't remember...anyway, enough rambling. I like this shot and your rock sculptures always fascinate me. I'm always promising to try something like this myself, but I never get around to it. I suspect one day I will...but not today. Tomorrow maybe...or maybe not. We'll see. At any rate, I love seeing these and thinking of the amazing amount of patience it would take to make something like this (and judging by some of the ones I've seen in your gallery, it's a small one.) I just love these things...and one day I'd like to get up that way and photograph a few of these myself. (Okay, I could just make some, I suppose...I'm lazy and prefer to photograph somebody else's handiwork. Great stuff...

Well, Mike, I see that you are still very well balanced, my freind. It's gotta be a zen kind of thing. I tried this a couple months ago, but all I had were a few chunks of limestone, and the odd bit of fractured concrete paver. Still, I had a decent stack going, and even got a few pics. Of couse, compared to your skills with this, my humble effort was a little like stacking bricks! :-D Very cool bit of fooling gravity, and like faemike, I'll just leave it at that. I haven't been to a RenFaire in years - thankfully ours is in early fall - hope this heatwave has subsided by then...

Don't see how that top rock stays put without manipulating gravity. Great job! Hopefully nobody in the neighborhood will blow off steam by knocking over your creation.
