I started out using the 3D program called Imagine on an Amiga in 1990, switched to the PC around 1995, then switch to Lightwave3D around 2005 or so. I own a graphics company that specializes in architectural illustrations and animation. If you are looking for a job doing this kind of stuff, willing to relocate to Memphis, TN, and use Lightwave, drop me a note as I am probably hiring.

I liked the subtle things like the coffe rings, dirty green surface on the rubber cover for the table, the bite marks on the pencils, and the stains/smudges and fingerprints on the t-square. You can't tell, but the reflection on the gold lettering on the cup was a woman's legs walking in some surf at a beach.... lol. The edges of the triangles are a little less transparent, and have the "brightness" attribute at around 200 or so. With the exception of that lamp, I modeled the rest from scratch. I even scanned the blueprint from something I had been working on. The photos and wall prints were stock material from the Coreldraw CD that was out at the time (version 4 or something). That was around 1995 I think.

I thought that architects were supposed to used formz. I think that this picture and the other you have posted shows that Imagine was maybe in advance in the 90's and can do the job anyway. An architect friend of mine told me that the chalet in the mountain was professional quality, great job.

Yes, most architects use formz. I'm the oddball. At the time I started out in 1991, nothing else was better than Imagine. It was at the forefront, IMO. Things have changed, and now I would say that if I had to start from scratch I would probably go with MAX. I like the anti-aliasing and HDRI lighting. I'm learning Lightwave right now because I desparately need the multi-processor abilities and I have waited long enough on Imagine (my partner uses LW too, so it will streamline things a bit). But technically as of September 1998 I am no longer an architect, as I strictly do computer graphics now (and I love it). Thanks for the compliments.

I don't know anything about Imagine, but I really like this realistic pic!

so i put my glasses on and it's even better...sorta see the legs in the gold.and the chew marks, full points on that one mate, also the wrinkled paper top right is a good touch as are the slightly bent photos...dunno how good an architect you are,but glad to have you full time in 3D world...it can only advance everyone by studying work by a master, and i'm sure we'll be seeing more of yours,if not here in the lightwave gallery,...no?
