Description

No postprocessing on this render. I did this with the first version of Imagine for the PC. I probably spent more time on that stupid torch flame than anything else in the scene.

I like this.. the lava is realistic, the chains are super, excellent textures for the stonework. Need some weird creatures to dance around on there? grin

very nice...did you model the supports on the bridge as individual stones or is that a really good bump map...much better than my first pc renders, and the flame was worth the time in my books....

The blocks are individual pieces that I initially modeled by extruding a black and white outline of the stones of the bridge in elevation. I might do it differently today, but this was 8 years or so ago. After that I applied a heavily pitted bitmap that I made in a paint program as a bump map to the sides and underside.... the top surface I left mostly smooth, but there's also a mixture of bump textures and color, and dirt textures. I can't remember which ones I used exactly, but the concrete one is probably in there. I used the linear texture to make the lava get blacker at the edges where in theory it would not be as hot and bright as in the middle.... and I used a lot of red lights to simulate the glow on the walls and underside of the bridge. I had a blue light in the foreground, and a bright white or yellowish light up high for most of the illumination and shadows (I called it the light from nowhere).

Great picture, if I would want something changed, it would be that the chainlinks are a tad big, i would half the size at least. But I havent doen anything as nice looking, so who am I to complain :-)
