Description
Captured 6/21/11, on my second visit to the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific in beautiful Long Beach, California.
A ZOOM would be to your distinct advantage.
Pictures captured using the aquarium setting on my Canon PowerShot SX20 point-and-shoot camera.
This was not at the same aquarium as the Moon Jelly that I posted just a few days ago. The Sea Jellies shown above were in a much better location, photo-wise, than the Moon Jellies were, because I didn't have to contend with any reflections cast by other exhibits, plus the tank had good overhead lighting, and these guys were drifting much slower, which contributed to sharper images. Additionally, for those few moments, I had no other visitors around me, which gave me the rare opportunity to relax and concentrate during this procedure.
To quote the Aquarium Map and Visitors Guide:
SEA JELLIES are 90 percent water and have no brain, eyes, heart, or bones. Despite their simple design, the Aquarium's sea jellies require a complex environment to thrive. Round tanks called kreisels are designed to keep water flowing in a circle so the animals do not become caught on the sides of the exhibit. The jellies are monitored daily and are fed brine shrimp.
There is so much detailed information regarding the vast variety of jellyfish on Google I won't even bother including any of it here, but you're welcome to go there if you're interested as to these beautiful animals.
Ta-ta, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

I love these guys! They seem to be dancing a wild and joyous dance. They may have no brains, but they seem to know how to have a good time. Wonderful detail! I love all the cilia and the transparency of their bodies, especially when I can see veins and the other side of them through them. Wonderful captures!
