I'm not sure what all to say about myself, I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) and work as a graphic designer/computer technician for a print shop. I have a BS in Historic Preservation, but wasn't willing to go on for a Master's Degree, nor was I interested in teaching, so I found another career. I discovered Bryce way back when version 1 came out, but I didn't really get serious about the program, or 3D art in general, until a few years ago. When I'm not in front of the computer, I'm either making costumes or wearing them to a renaissance festival, or building a new rock-sculpture, or possibly wandering with a camera.
When I'm not making something, odds are I'm reading from my far too wide range of interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Current Events, NASA (of course) and anything else that happens to catch my attention. It's really hard to find enough time to do all of the things I want to be doing! What drew me to Renderosity is the many excellent artists who continue to inspire me to push myself as an artist. More recently I've added a selection of stuff to another online gallery location:http://nefariousdro.deviantart.com/Â

Kinda scary looking, except for the grass at the end of the staff. Well done!

Awesome costume, Mike! Looks like you're having a blast with it! Isn't that the way it always is? When you have the time, you don't have the money, but when you have the money you don't have the time. There oughta be a law.... :-D

Cool costume; I can relate--I've been out since 1/1/2011, which is the longest I have EVER been out. No one seems to want to pay for good documentation, just management types who get golden parachutes even when they couldn't actually manage their way out of a paper bag with both ends open, flashing neon exit sins and instructions available in 12 languages and fail miserably... So I have been catching up on remodel projects (see my Rendo site) and downloading new software to demo/learn...

"The Kettish people of the Modrian Lowlands live by farming, fishing, herding, and trading and by the usual crafts and arts of a non-industrial society. Their numbers, though large, never overcrowd lands on which they dwell, and because of their skills in the medicinal arts and dragon husbandry, Kettish poet-shamans and dragonmasters are in high demand in lands as far to the Western Flats as Beheth. Towns (called "houses") are generally governed by a democratic council of Speakers: men and women within a particular age range, and representative of the various trades and guilds within each house. Each house is protected by warriors gifted in the combat arts, though young men gifted with "voice" are favored. Voice is often described as the ability to see other perspectives and convey what is seen. Warriors with exceptional perceptual abilities are often given great responsibilities as diplomats, ambassadors, and foreign advisers. Such men--many of whom are quite young--are known, commonly, as Parleymen." Yep, okay...I have no idea where that came from, but I think it was stuff embedded in this photo. I like it a lot. I like what you've done with that costume, particularly the headpiece incorporating the fearsome mask, the almost totemic strands of hair, and other bits and pieces. I'd love to see a bigger version of this picture, just to see even more of the details. My inner anthropologist is screaming for "more input"...and I have to say that you make quite an impressive character. I really like this shot. It's good to see that you've been busy, putting considerable skills to excellent use...and even better: I had no idea who the Kettish people were until I saw this photograph. By the way, I love the staff...at least that's what I'm assuming it is as it has more of a ceremonial of "magikal" look--unless those leaves sheathing the tip are a lot more dangerous than they look. This is marvelous! If a couple of pints'll do this to you, I want some of what you're drinking!
