Description

Lately I've been spending a great deal of time of the costume (see my previous post) and not done much of my space or science fiction work. I have however, amassed a huge library of new cloud photos, due to the wonder open sky views I get in the parking lot of my new workplace. Thus my coworkers have all been subjected to view of me standing out there in the middle of a traffic lane pointing my camera upwards at seemingly empty sky. Most of them have by now asked why I'm doing that and after seeing what they're used for nobody seems to blink too much anymore. Well, except for the general treatment of "oh, he's the strange guy who does the space stuff" I see now... Anyway, this scene of a planetary nebula is made from roughly 16 layers of photos of clouds, and the stars are made from the plugin "glitterato". I usually adjust the output from that plugin, the stars tend to be too evenly distributed for my taste. Anyway, thanks for taking a look, this was really just fooling around as I try to reinvigorate my interest in space scenery once again.

Very nice! The different angular cloud concentrations give it the look of the remnants of an explosion.

Fantastic spacescape as always, Mike! Hey, nothing wrong with being the "strange guy." I've been that way for years - wouldn't have it any other way!!

I love your space-scapes and keep an eye peeled for something written and featuring...um...costumes! You've gotten me to thinking about clothing and what it says of a culture, and well...um...I think there are some dragon riders involved, and they're kinda tough, until you get a pint of something in 'em, then they're loopy and poetic and develop an interest in counting the petals on dandelions or something. But anyway, I'm rambling. I love your technique in terms of creating space scenes and they're always inspiring! This is no exception. It's funny, with a few orbs scattered here and there, you'd have an excellent globular cluster as well...okay, a dense and dusty one, but a globular cluster nonetheless...very nice! Hey, maybe this can inspire the Nefarian Cluster, inhabited by the sorts of people who might be at home in the universe of Lexx...or maybe not. At any rate, I love this image.
