Description
This is a partial view of a mansion that had belonged to Laurinda Santos Lobo, one of Rio's leading socialites. After the mansion burned down, the city reinforced the gutted shell and installed all manner of ramps and catwalks. This vantage point provides a 270 degree of Rio, including Centro, Baia de Guanabara, and Sugarloaf.
The ruin is located adjacent to the Museu Chacara do Ceu, the former mansion of French-born patron and industrialist Raymondo Ottoni de Castro Mayo. The museum houses a mall collection of modern art. Both the ruins and the museum are surrounded by beautiful gardens.
