Description

I have complimented yesterdays upload by showing you this shot I took at Fort Laramie. In the background are the army barracks which were not comfortable and very basic. The settlers on the Oregon trail stopped over here to rest their animals and to replenish their provisions. The fort is open and sparse now and many of the old buildings are long gone.

Very nice. So, I could have been stationed there if I had served in the army 100 years earlier than I did! That's that very same wagon that keeps coming to mind everytime I think of settlers moving west before the transcontinental railroad was finished in 1869.

Reminds me of the book "The Oregon Trail" I had to read in school all those years ago. A mammoth journey to have undertaken with a wagon this small!

An excellent capture of this wagon. They seemed to always get such a lot into these wagons but they must have been very uncomfortable to ride in. I loved the video that Magik did of your photos too.
