I'm not sure what all to say about myself, I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) and work as a graphic designer/computer technician for a print shop. I have a BS in Historic Preservation, but wasn't willing to go on for a Master's Degree, nor was I interested in teaching, so I found another career. I discovered Bryce way back when version 1 came out, but I didn't really get serious about the program, or 3D art in general, until a few years ago. When I'm not in front of the computer, I'm either making costumes or wearing them to a renaissance festival, or building a new rock-sculpture, or possibly wandering with a camera.
When I'm not making something, odds are I'm reading from my far too wide range of interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Current Events, NASA (of course) and anything else that happens to catch my attention. It's really hard to find enough time to do all of the things I want to be doing! What drew me to Renderosity is the many excellent artists who continue to inspire me to push myself as an artist. More recently I've added a selection of stuff to another online gallery location:http://nefariousdro.deviantart.com/Â

That's outstanding! I can totally see how you could become engrossed in such a task. A long time ago I wrote a poem called Perseverance ... you might enjoy it.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! This is just totally magnificent, Mike! There isn't a cabinetmaker out there that wouldn't sell his soul for a batch of lumber with a grain pattern like this! I can completely understand where you're coming from - I too get completely engrossed in just playing with different effects, filters, and so on. I haven't had much time lately for just playing, but I may have to sit down and try to replicate this - you've inspired me! Now, I've got to go read Tara's poem....

Oh, I get so wrapped up in digifiddling (I stole that word from durleybeachbum) and the next thing I know, hours have passed and I'm up way past my bedtime and only about one-eighth of the way through whatever project I've decided to waste my time wasting my time on. I can totally understand how something like this can grab you and not let go, and I'm glad it didn't...this is quite an amazing piece of work. I looked back at the thumbnail and was immediately reminded of a photograph I'd taken that wasn't very different from this; and that just goes to show just how much work you've put into this puppy. This is quite amazing, and for some reason, I look at this and get the impression I should be smelling cedar. Funny how that works! It's a good thing though. This is quite fantastic!
