Description
Continuing with the south unit(Cottonwood Cove), for those that enjoy my Coyote Butte series. ;~) I have always gone into the north unit before this visitation in June of 2010, but due to the high demand of this unique area a lottery is drawn for the limited daily permits. Several dozen people were showing even in June when it is a bit inhospitable as a result I kept loosing on a daily basis...Lol
None the less it worked out for the best as the south unit holds as much beauty as the north and there is no lottery for the south unit. I don't think you can see unless the full view is used, but just left of center you can see a dark hole. Don't let the image fool you, it is farther than one might think and I already had a goal in mind for this hike. Figured if I lost the next lottery that would be my queue to return for a cave hike. It sure looked to me like a very large cave, I'll post the 105mm zoom next for a closer inspection.

Beautiful! I love the color and composition. The large, relatively unpatterned rocks in the foreground with a dusting of sand, followed by an expanse of sand sprinkled with dark green foliage, a line of sandstone formations in a deep dusty pink, and the beautiful blue and blue-gray sky. I like the tenacious bush on the rocks in the foreground. Beautiful landscape and capture!
