UPDATED:Â September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
Â
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
Â
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
Â
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Â
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

There's a challenge! I may come back and rewrite my comment if I get inspiration. I used to get my pupils to describe paintings as if they were taking a blind friend round the gallery, but this requires something more spiritual maybe.

Each sunset is so different... I'll be never bored... Brilliant upload, Bill ! :~)

Great shot Bill, would be hard to describe to some one that hasn't seen colour...

Yep and I guess even explaining colours must be hard. To someone who has never had sight, the idea of colour must be so foreign. Great photo mate.

This is beautiful. I don't know how one would describe it. I will be thinking of an answer all day.

That would be hard if they were blind from birth. Beautiful sunset!!!

What a gorgeous shot, Bill! Now, that would be an almost impossible task. I've wondered about that before - how do you describe the beauty of a sunset, or a cherry tree in full bloom, or even a pretty face to someone who has never seen one? Sometimes we really need to stop and be thankful for the things we take for granted....

This is beautiful I may come back and delete my comment Then replace it with describing the view Stunning image Hugs Susan~

I have comtemplated this question before and came to the conclusion that I would instead try to draw the image, perhaps on their back, and employ different finger motions to represent different colors while explaining that the differences in color to us are a bit like the differences in touch to them. Though I have drawn pictures on backs, I've not had any opportunity to try this with a blind person.

This is absolutely beautiful Bill. Rare in that area, but it sure looks fantastic when it happens.

...like to swing on a star, carry moonbeams home in a jar, and be better off than you are..... Stellar mauve effects in this spectacular image, Bill. The reflection and texture of the water is superlative.

A wonderful capture of this beautiful sunset. Almost impossible to describe colour to someone who is blind I would think but I guess you could liken it to warm water flowing across the sky.

Difficult to describe magic to those who do not know! Wonderful scene , Bill ! Fantastic atmosphere !
bobrgallegos
That would be very hard to do Bill. Maybe point them in the direction of the sun so they would feel the warmth on their face and describe the colors as different textures so they might relate the different colors as textures. Now I have a headache from thinking to much. LOL!! This is a wonderful and very beautiful photo!!!

This is a beautiful sunset capture Bill. Lovely colors but I couldn't imagine how you could describe it to a blind person. My wife, Jo, has a combination of Macular degeneration and Histoplasmosis. It ties me in knots trying to explain what she can’t see. Thank God that she remembers sunrises and sunsets because there is no way I could describe them from scratch. Dana

What a wonder! It is not easy to describe such beauty also for those who see... the spectacle of nature is breathtaking! How to describe it to a blind person? This is very difficult, especially for those who is blind from birth!
