Description

I began, at last, to visit all your galleries. It will take some days, but I promise to get to you all. In the meantime, an early-day shot of my neighborhood. The resolution is low, but I just couldn't resist the light. It's better full-size too...
* * * Thanks to all for your great support in these months and I'll get to your wonderful sitemails too. Much light & inspiration, Mark

Mark! So wonderful to see you here! You bring light with your presence and with your beautiful image. I'm sitting here with a lopsided grin. (I had all the Novocaine in the world injected into my jaw about 3 hours ago) This is gorgeous full sized! The light is amazing! I love how the patches of light on the sidewalk go deeply into the image and there is a pinpoint of light, all the way at the end of the path. I love the lit bed of pink flowers in the forefront and the speckled brown light in the near tree. The light is very magical. It dances in the shadows, pops up in reflected points, and sends spotlights onto the pavement. It is so beautifully arranged, it looks like it could have been applied on the scene with an artist's brush. The light and shadows interact marvelously. The path is very inviting, deep restful shade and lovely light. Superb image and welcome back! Take it easy and take care of yourself.

there are touchstones in some that one constantly looks over their shoulder or to the side to reach out and welcome home. You are my touchstone and do so pray that you are being lifted as this light in the image; with great care

Ahhhh, love the employment of a vanishing point perspective down that long sidewalk among the trees. There is light at the end of the tunnel:) As for early morning light that all too few of us get to see... what is this 6am? It is beautiful dappled light...the type of light I could never pass up either! Bravo.

You have caught an amazing light in this capture and I love how the sunshine goes so far down the pathway drawing my eye in, right in to the little pinlight at the end. A superb capture and it is so lovely seeing a posting from you.

What a lovely photo Mark, and I saved visiting your gallery for last so I'd be sure to close out my night with a smile. Your neighborhood is a wonderful looking place, there is almost a calm about it that comes through in this photo. Certainly that is part of the reason you chose to live here, or maybe it is you that brought the peace and calm with you to this place as you seem to do everhwhere you go inculding this gallery. Glad to have you back my brother.

I love your neighborhood (as you know) and this beautiful light/shadow capture of it is absolutely irresistable! As for the rest ... Lu said it better than I ever could, and I would just be repeating her anyway. So read her comment again, okay? :P (It's good to see you post something again, my friend. Your presence here is missed!)

Helllooo!!!!MARK:)))First at all,GREAT to see you here! welcome back, you were missing! Wonderful early morning you captured! Everything is still quiet and silent, giving so much tranquility to your place! It´s very beautiful and joyful. I love the way you captured the sunlight in those parts of the trees and in the flowers and the play of shadow/light is a wonder, as well is, the subtle point of light in the end of the road as a promise for the day.I love this perspective a lot:))

Fabulous light and shadow effects in this cool image, Mark -- and being a fan of horror movies, I'll also add, where angels fear to tread. I echo the many huzzahs of "welcome back" from the previous comments above, my friend. Hope you're doing better. Sorry, but I don't have the time or talent of responding to your comments in your own copious and elegant style, so I hope this will suffice.

I've always favored evening sunlight .. but this image changes my mind. Mind you, by the time I'm outside, the morning light has gotten too bright and too easily washes everything out. This seems to be early early morning, and so has a much different quality. It makes everything magical, but differently then evening light does. You live in a marvelous neighborhood.

I love the shadows in this shot, but then I'm a sucker for any form of darkness, especially darkness with color: I guess it's one of those Rembrandt things, where shadows define so much and little spots of light come across as color and texture more than anything else. Well, that's my take on this shot and I have to say that it's appealing and inviting, and it reminds me of all of the things I love most in terms of darkness (I guess I'm just a night creature at heart) and color. I love the way shapes move in and out of focus here: there's very little overt geometry here, but then geometric shapes do emerge, fade, and seem to linger more as memories and impressions. It's really frakkin' hard to get photos to do stuff like that, but this does it. And yeah, you live in a great neighborhood. Near the heart of Chicago, things achieve a measure of elegance, and amid the constant activity, there's a paradoxical sense of quiet, even when it's not quiet...and in late August, those "dogday cicadas" make sure that silence exists elsewhere...but I like cicadas and their endless, epic, rattling sounds, and judging by the trees, I suspect you had at least one charming treetop quartet...if not a whole choir!

Early morning has become my favorite time of the day - I used to be a night owl but I've changed my routine to fit in with my exercise program (running and cycling). This shot captures the beauty of the early morning light to perfection - deep shadow hinting at form, bright areas accentuating the shadows... Gorgeous shot.

Mark, your loving light is always with me I wish I took more time to stop by and let you know I am thinking of you and keep you in my prayers and thoughts. As usual I see by this posting that you are still "following the light" (((Hugs))) KenyaRose
