Description

Hola, and greetings. This is the latest revisions to the costumery for this season's renaissance festivals. I'm still tinkering, but the main parts are now in place. This was taken with the camera on its auto-timer, in my back yard so I apologize for the less than ideal quality to the shot. Nearly everything you see I made (except the wall behind me, of course) the staff is bound-together stalks of the ornamental grass that's growing wild around Southeast Michigan these days. The lantern is made from the same materials and bound together with a rough hemp twine. The claws and bones you've seen in my gallery before, they're made from a cast resin in molds I ether sculpted or were taken from antlers. As Chipka suspected, there's a complex back-story to this character, which causes most peoples' eyes to glaze over if I start going into it too deeply... Anyway, there's going to be another trip to the renaissance festival in Holly Michigan on the 17th and 18th of September, anybody in the area who wants to see this in person is definitely encouraged to head out. If you are there, definitely stop me and say hi or take my picture, or both. If the last foray is anything to go by, I expect I'll be posing for a great many pictures, even.

This is frigging cool, however, it makes me want to a gun close to the bed. This is wild - you must find some trees to stand in. There is no need to fear glazed eyes.

Amazing! There is a story waiting to be told; more later, as I'm working on a followup to The Whisper Path...those Eul'taliib guys aren't ready to shut up yet. I love your costume work and this has all of the sort of detail that I love; for some reason I get the odd sensation that I'm staring at one of the wizards of Earthsea, or maybe one of the some slightly more sinister, darker, vaguely apocryphal wizard of Gont, wait? Was it Gont or am I confususing my LeGuinian islands. It's not important, but still. I love this image and I'm itching to write something anthropological. This rocks. I'd also love to hear your backstory to this character, just to see what kinds of human cultures are percolating around in your mind. I love that kind of stuff!

You do SUCH great work! This is amazing! There's a stack of rocks out by the gate at the campground we've been staying at this summer, and every time I see it I think of you. One of these days I'll remember to take my camera out there and grab a pic for you! It's been there for ages.

Oh, man - this is just beyond words! Dang, Mike, it must have taken forever to put all this together - the detail is just amazing. And the fact that you've used techniques accurate to the age makes it even better. Kudos. my friend for an excellent job on this costume and accessories - truly a work of art in every way!
