Description

The Collegiate Church of St Peter at Westminster was established by Royal charter of Queen Elizabeth I in 1560. It is popularly known as Westminster Abbey and the building is over 900 years old. It is a large, mainly Gothic church, in the City of Westminster, London, United Kingdom, located just to the west of the Palace of Westminster. This is the western facade. It is the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English, later British and later still (and currently) monarchs of the Commonwealth realms. And let us not forget the royal weddings. Once again I am on a moving double decker bus. Sorry about the tilt. The dark brown building, on the right, could be the The Cabinet War Rooms. Info from Wikipedia. 1995 photo scanned. Zoom works! Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
