Description
May I introduce Kalseru, the female dragon in my weyr.
Kalseru is a dragon name from a rainbow serpent goddess in aboriginal mythology (which aborigines I've no clue), and is associated with fertility and rain. In my little fantasy world, dragon females are rare; consequently, they are treasured above all and fiercely protected and defended by the males.
Kalseru loved doing this (she's a bit of a ham). She rather liked being showcased on a base (Base Camp from DAZ), probably because all the males tend to keep her on a pedastal...they really dote on her. For the most part, she's a gentle, unassuming dragon, rarely out of sorts, and in turn, dotes on the males in the weyr.
She is, however, mate to the Alpha, and as such, has even higher status.
I'll be introducing the others in the Weyr, one by one with the names I've chosen for them. I used the light set, Fiat Lux for this render and I like the way it turned out. Most light sets seem geared for human type models and they didn't seem to work the way I was wanting. Fiat Lux, though created with human type models in mind, worked quite well, though I did some adjustments of my own and added a point light. It's an older light set, but very versatile and I'm very glad of it! Not only was it very easy for me to work with, but this time there were no ugly artifacts on her wings!

I do love the expression on this being's face and the pose is great! What a muscular creature, evolved--it would seem--for a distinctly dragon-ish life in a particular, probably rocky environment. Great color and texture work too. It's funny, I've been reading about dragons, lately: I've dipped back into Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea novels, though I have yet to read Tales from Earthsea, which remains patiently on my bookshelf. Anyway...enough rambling. I like this quite a lot!
