Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

The young people you speak of lived not far from me. That was very tragic, and hopefully it tells others to obey the signs. The falls in Yosemite are swift, and mighty. Great capture of the falls.

One challenges nature at one's own risk! However, one can appreciate Nature in all of its grandeur in this way...safe behind the working end of a camera! What a shot this is too...what scale! This is quite impressive and I love the colors. As for life off the grid...there is a part of me that would enjoy that immensely, but I do need my internet! Ah, but wait...Cricket sells laptop modems that you just plug in...instant access for a monthly fee and you can take it anywhere! I love Cricket. Cheap and effective. Emphasis on cheap. I love this shot too! It's majestic. And don't worry about missing any commenting time: just sit back and enjoy being off grid! The world opens up in so many different ways in situations like that.

Such a shame they did not heed to the warning. Prayers to them. Aloha

It's not that they can't read, people think it won't happen to them. Then there are the ones with no common sense. Just look at the raw power coming over that edge, one must have respect, or risk losing all. Nothing like an early morning hike, great spot to stop and take in the view!

Gosh! Nature demands respect, and not just in the big things like this.

Sorry to hear about the deaths. very lovely photo

Very impressive image. I like how the falls serve as a backdrop for the leaves. The three who lost their lives not only ignored the signs but had to climb over a metal railing to get into the water. They really had to work for it.
