Description

...But I may have unintentionally created this year's wrapping paper! I was fooling around as usual, only this time I was intending to create a new "wallpaper" that was to be used on an iPhone/iTouch when somehow THIS happened. To say that I was instantly bowled over can't really describe the feeling, it's one of those happy accidents that occurs when you think "I wonder what would happen if I..." and then act on it. In this case I had a pretty typical (for me) highly textured and old-metal look combined with geometric lines drawn in Adobe Illustrator. I added a new layer of a series of overlapped shapes also created in Illustrator and set that layer to a transparency mode called "Difference". Usually that doesn't do things I like all that much, but every once in a while it produces spectacular results like this so I try to test it on things from time to time. This time it punched the image into a totally unexpected realm, and I instantly hit "Save" and then did a very frightening "happy puppy squirmy dance" with the door closed so nobody would see. Yes, I'm easily amused. I'll probably have more things to post as the fall wears on and I put more concerted effort into the annual wrapping paper exercise. This one just may steal the entire show, however. Thanks for taking a look everyone!

Well, that's a gorgeous paper texture, Mike, but I would really have paid money to see you do the "happy puppy squirmy dance" LOL! Excellent!

No, not wrapping paper. It should be a stained-glass window. Wouldn't I love to have such in a window of my home!
