Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh, what a familiar sight; seen through non-Chicago eyes, it actually looks kinda nice in that heavy metal sort of way. The rivets are so...well...riveting and that shade of yellow actually looks like a color. It's gonna be winter soon and so it's going to take on that colorless, washed out look. I love the lines in this and the way the El looks so different when not shown in it's fully, oddly-jagged serpentine manner. When I think of the parts of Chicago that I like, I think of that bulky, heavy, almost oppressive El architecture. It resists beautification, and thus attains its own breed of grace and beauty. It's a surviving remnant of the Old Chicago, and it's so welcome--at least to me. But then I think that a city like Chicago suffers when it's cleaned up too much. I mean, how clean and pretty should you make a swamp city named after skunk cabbage and wild onions? This shot alone does Chicago an immense bit of justice, and it's a great fragment of the Windy City...something Jake and Elwood, Mr. Capone, and other colorful characters would recognize and love. This is a great shot. I love the angle and the absence of pigeon drops.

Nice shot Bill! These structures look very plain from a distance but become more and more complicated as you get closer.

Wonderful composition! I like the pattern that's formed by those rivets you love so much. Excellent framing and pov. It's like being there!

This is one heck of a cool abstract, Bill! Talk about angles - and depth! Wow! This has it all! I love photos with lots of detail - as long as the composition is good - and this one goes right off the scale of coolness! Brilliant!

A very clear capture of this massive construction. It must be a massive system.

The only parts of it that I've seen were rusty, not this lovely bright yellow. I've always loved that steel riveted construction, and this big shape is wonderful. Great capture!

Sweet link and the "Intramural Railway 1893" Wiki photo was very interesting. I bet nobody ever fell out with those open sided cars. Amazing condition. The Boston "T" elevated paint is all peeling. Dana
