My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Super colors and such a bleak place...at least historically, but then history is a rather bleak thing when you stop and count the bodies, and there are so many of them. I think this captures that most gracefully and gives history a different sort of life, one that's desperately needed; your photo inspires an in-depth Google, and that's never a bad thing. Your bits and pieces treatment does what all good writing does: it turns history into something more appealing than indigestible lumps of exposition. That's always a good thing and I'm glad it works as well with photography as it does with writing. I like this a lot!

Excellent composition. It gives a very strong feeling of gravesites abandoned and forgotten.

What a contrast to your previous post! Death, isolation, loneliness. Yet beautiful colors. As my brother once wrote me "Pomposity leads to dire circumstances". Never underestimate another human being. Keep up the good work! :-)

The colors of the grasses are so beautiful. A nice shot of history for those of us that will never get there to see this in person.

Nicely composed Tara!

I agree with Chip, the way this is presented is a nice mixture of the natural terrain, the human legacy of our own history, and the passing of the seasons. I love the colors, the superb composition, and the contrasts. Knowing where this is makes this a somber image, but also a very beautiful one.
