Description

ZOOM...left to right, top to bottom.. Always handy to have wheels if you want to get about. Work on the front landing gear....this is pretty easy, probably because I enjoy the detail bits.Just a couple of barrels for the wheel and main strut and then another for the acctuating arm.Much the same for the main gear, only need to build one then duplicate a mirror version. I usually do these in 3ds format simply because it gives a smaller file size. This one is in .obj format...well, just because some people seem to prefer it, so I thought I'd see if it makes any real difference quality wise.In 3ds the cockpit is 985kb in .obj it's 4mb...but that's the biggest single part. The complete fusilage with engine is just under 4mb so we're looking at about 10mb when finished, add Poser prop parts ?? Next update should be something with paint on...thanks for looking and any comments......

Wish I lived close enough so I could stop by your place for a look over your shoulder. I'd like to see how modeling works but am too lazy to figure it out for myself. Interesting presentation...is T.Rex getting into 3D?

THANKS a LOT Neil! It gives me more detailed info about Wings3D. I downloaded the program some time ago, but there were a lot of extra tutorial files I couldn't get at the time. I'd like to get into 3D, particularily anatomy (for teaching, but also for making images and for posting to R-osity for folks like you). This was great of you! I really like the abilitry to import 2 drawings at right angles to each other for real detail work. Keep up the good work! :-)

I've always thought the .obj format was a little better than the .3ds, but much of the time, I can't really tell the difference. I've used both in Bryce and Vue.

I wondered what you used for your modelling work mate - cool insight into how you do things, more like this required for folks like me who want to learn but need help!
