Description

I knew it would happen sometime It was inevitable that it would Still the knowing did not make it easier When it happened as it could I went to see him yesterday My mom had said he asked for me But when I got there to see him He could not see me He was lost; lost in the fog Not dead but still not there He was walking down the hall I said "Hello Dad," But he did not hear my call No smile, no touch, no pause My Dad is now lost; lost in the fog My dad has suffered from Alzheimer's for over 7 years now. He has been in a special home for almost the last two. He often has trouble knowing me, but yesterday was the first time that I could not make him recognize me - at all.

This is a sweet and sad portrait hon. I'm so sorry for you all. It is a terrible disease. Without your memories or recognition of those dearest to you in life, 'you' simply don't exist any longer. Hugs to you and your Mom sweetie.

That's a sad story, Roxy... We are used to - more or less - to lose our dear ones when they pass away... but this must bring such a pain to lose them while they're still alive. Hugs, Vashek
