Ah yes, a perfect gift Hon:) Love the light and the colors... And my imagination is already moving forward under a full head of steam! I can imagine sitting on the engineer's seat on the right side of this ornate cab of Union Pacific #119, wind hitting me full in the face as we rush westward, up toward Promontory Summit. My left hand is on the throttle, eyes looking straight down the track, alternately glanceing towards the Turret Valve and Main Pressure Guage as well as the Train Brake Pressure guages. I can feel the heat of the fire contained not far from my left foot by the Firebox door. I know all is well...for the fire is glowing with that perfect bright golden-orange hue. Not much further now... I am expecting to reach the meeting point before my fellow engineer driving the Central Pacific's #60...Jupiter by name. And tonight I'll be looking forward to a good night's sleep...for tomorrow's noontime Golden Spike ceremony will be the most important event of my lifetime! Thanks for the birthday treat hon...now, I really am going to bed...all this imaginary action has plumb tuckered me out:)

My dad loved steam trains. He worked for the railroad during WWII. The first time my parents visited me after I moved to San Antonio, he had our time all planned out, because there is a steam train you can ride on in the Hill Country (66 miles round trip). Beautiful image! Excellent crop, colors, and lighting. I love the way it softly glows. Happy Birthday, Bill!

I like the portion you picked out Tara! And I like Bill's description because I once had the opportunity to drive one for a few miles at Fort Edmonton Park. The only difference between me and Bill is that I knew exactly nothing about what I was doing...good thing someone was telling me! And a happy birthday to you too Bill!
