Description

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bill and many, many more. I know that I have done Iguanas before but this guy has it all and he is running free – not in a cage or at the zoo. The large dewlap under his chin can be inflated to attract females, intimidate rivals or scare off predators. The large round scales on his cheeks are known as the subtympanic shield. That’s another indication that you are looking at a male, this guy is about 30 inches (76cm) long. He has a third eye (Parietal eye), visible as a pale scale, on the top of the head and used for sensing changes in light such as an aerial predator. An iguana's ear is called a tympanum and is found right above the subtympanic shield and behind the eye. Check out the claws and he has a nasty set of sharp teeth. Taken with my old Minolta. he looks bad to the bones. got to watch out down in fl. I saw a lot of wild animal on the lose down there and the animal people haveing a time to round them up. there something that looks like this but it more wild that this and can attack you. can take a finger off.

Those are some vivid images. I have seen a few feral/wild iguanas down here never have they been that shade of orange.
