Description
The good ol' days, captured 8/20/11, at a local nearby auto show.
Totally ZOOM worthy.
Many of you weren't around during those heady days of the mid twentieth century, when drive-in restaurants were the big thing in dining out, especially for the young guys with ducktail haircuts and Levis, and the gals with short coifed hair, saddle shoes and bobbysox, eating fast food goodies while sitting in their hot rods and cool Chevys and Fords. Cute female carhops would walk or roller skate out to the car, take and then deliver the order.
The food on the tray is fake, although I'm not too sure about the burger and onion rings.
Anyway, this goes to illustrate that many of the participants in this auto show had nostalgia and whimsy to go along with their vehicle displays. Plus, this event was keen in that it was free.
Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if drive-ins are still in existence. It's just that I haven't seen any lately.
Farvel, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Aww, I remember having root beer floats at the A&w drive in as a kid; it was so exciting to have food delivered right to the car. Nothing like a float in a frosty mug on a hot day... This really takes me back, Harry; we do have drive-ins here in the Seattle area, called "Burgermeister" or something like that. No roller skates, but carhops and window trays. And isn't that the Big Boy from Bob's Big Boy on that tray???? Great capture!

Super shot Harry. And the good news is Sonic Drive-ins are alive and well featuring full carhop service...just like back in our day:) Sonic now has over 3,500 drive-ins in 43 states...we go there often when we are on the road.

One of your more colorful shots, and a wonderful addition to my "favorites".

It's a very appealing and colourful image Harry, but nothing there that is good for the waistline nor health ... plus I have never ever visited or felt the urge to buy or eat anything presented there. but it's wonderful nostalgic shot, BB

I'm with Denise & others, a great capture; and apparently---from what Bill & others wrote---these places still exist. (You could've fooled me. I've not seen one of these in my town!) Terrific job on the angle and sweep of the chrome & on all those reflections in chrome & glass, and on how well they frame the food. (The food's shown in just the right angle. Everything is visible.) I had no idea how much care goes into these car-shows until I started viewing your gallery; and you always show us that care with great love. The flare on the car roof---left, top---is just right, as are the 'cascading falls' of the seats behind the food...all elements 'align'. Another beautiful capture from these shows, Harry.
