Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Excellent shot of this aircraft. Aloha

Their noses reminds me of something you would see in a Disney animation movie, they could do a plane one :o)
flavia49
splendid shot

Oh, wow and cool! A real live Lightning! I've just checked the fact sheet - it was a fast one with long range. Not to mention maneuvrability. Although the split tail isn't visible here, the photo still gives the impression of speed and power - two engines on wings and, oh yes, a small part for cockpit with pilot. The streamlining is quite evident here, too. Keep up the good work! :-)

reminds of the plastic model kit i made once

I can't believe they painted it as a P-38J. What nerve! :P

Must admit it looks beautiful. !! :) Superb shot.

Nice shot! Saw one of these one day while boring holes in the sky above McMinnville Or. Saw it coming and it looked strange then the pilot pulled up and flew a 360 degree around me! I was hooked on them!

The 'Fork Tail Devil' itself. Now I like this very much! and very appropriate ;-) This really is one of those 'looks fast, even standing still' aircraft.Although carrier borne aircraft carried the fight, for me, this and the B-29 are the icons of the Pacific war. (LoL @ Tara, she'll be in the hangar straightening pitot tubes next :-)

Great image Hugs Susan~

GREAT CAPTURE

It looks so CLEAN! Almost like it might be just a model....it isn't a tiny one and you're not pulling our collective legs, right? LOL! Great POV, Bill!

Excellent POV of my favorite WWII fighter/interceptor, Bill. The clarity, detail and paint job on this beauty is outstanding, but the 20mm cannon is barely perceptible.

Ah, a real beauty, Bill! I love the P38 - it's right up there with the Mustang! There's just something about that twin-tail style I like... I just love the P61 Black Widows, too. This is superb - both the airplane and your photo of it!

wonderful shot of history

This must have been a pleasure to fly, a brilliant design. Well done on separating it from the background, Clive

I'm reading a brilliant novel by William Gibson, right now...I'm nearly finished with it. It's the third in a trilogy. William Gibson has decided to write mainstream (sort of) fiction as if it's science fiction, and so he's focusing on the world of today, as if he's made all of it up. What's interesting, though--and where this comment is going, is in a reference to the third book in the trilogy: Zero History. There's a scene where the semi-main characters have to paint a spy balloon disguised as a mylar penguin so that it doesn't look like a penguin-shaped spy balloon, so they apply high-tech camouflage paint (basically spray paint, but in splotchy patterns that don't disguise the spy-penguin so much as makes it impossible to see it as a single object.) I thought of that when I read that they had the nerve to actually paint this P-38L to look like a P-38J; I mean, what's next? Making the pilots wear pilot-gear painted in a wonderful shade of Klein blue so that they can't be accurately photographed by digital cameras? Now that I think of it, that's a pretty cool idea, and now I'm wondering what'll happen if you paint one of these beauties a nice shade of Klein blue...would that then make it a digital spy aircraft as no digital camera will every get that color right? I mean, you could paint its registry number in that shade and you'd have to use an old fashioned analog camera in order to actually record it. Cool! I like it when an image makes my mind wander, especially when it's a humdinger of a cool photo to boot. I think, I'm gonna go and do some research into uses for Klein blue paint a bit later on.

A classic POV to make up for the paint job!
