Description

West of Florissant and East of Wilkerson Pass on Highway 24 in Colorado, somewhere around 9,000 feet above sea level, going about 75mph. I'm not recovered from that trip, photographically speaking. I took over 8200 shots in five weeks, and right now I don't want to look at another camera as long as I live! I'll get over it. But since Bill does all the driving, I do all the shooting while we're on the road. It got tiresome after a while. Some of the out-the-window shots turned out well, some were good enough to turn into "paintings" just to show you where we were, but most of them are only fit for the cutting room floor. If it seems like I'm showing you a lot of drive-by shots, take heart ... there are hundreds I'm NOT going to make you look at! LOL!

This is my favourite king of landscape, my favourite habitat to roam. I love the richness and vibrancy of this work. And the fact you nailed it from a car window at speed is even more amazing.

This is rich, such a wealth of colors and an extreme amount of natural grandeur. Nature does mountains so well, and I love the sense of roaming that this photo presents. It's funny, for about 2 weeks now, I've scarcely touched my camera...I'm not all exhausted from extensive photographing, but I'm just unable to actually photograph anything. Ah, that's actually wrong, I took approximately 2 pictures last week...maybe 3. Only one of them turned out and the others were deleted. I guess it's time to focus on writing instead. But that's neither here nor there, it's just a ramble I inserted into this comment, but as for this picture: this is quite gorgeous and nicely elegant! Great work, as always.

Beautiful golden grass and light; I guess if you'd made him stop every time you wanted to shoot you'd still be on the way there... :)

Very nice scene, I like the way the golden grass contrasts with the darker hills and the sky.

If they all look even close to this one I'm game. I'll make some popcorn and enjoy the show. This is sumptuous. I love the colors and the saturation. Beautiful work.

Lots of motion in this; the clouds and their shadows as well as the blurring in the foreground.

Sensational shot for an 80 ISO at 75mph!

This is the classic picture of the American west, Tara! It is timeless. Take away the bit of road, and modern fencing (and of course color)and this could be a scene from the 1800s. Since it IS in color, I have to tell you how much I like the way the colors are 'layered' across the image. Just a dynamite shot - all the more given it was shot out the window at 75 mph!

8200 shots!!! As a photographer and someone preparing to move to Colorado, I am doubly impressed. This photo is so typically Colorado in every sense. The 75 Mph part makes it even more impressive in that it's sharp as a tack, and well composed. Please feel free to post as many shots of Colorado as you like. I, at least will be checking them out :-)
