UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

This is a fantastic POV Bill, these things can be ugly but this one doesn't come over as so.

Tee hee - Arthur and you are on the same page as I am... Super view, Bill. Clive

Good Lord! I would probably opt to burn to death. But then working in a building like that would have already sent me to the funny farm. Terrific pic.

One must be in good shape to make it to the top....but I guess in emergencies...we go down hill. Nice POV and shot. Aloha
Feliciti

I've seen these type of fire escapes in films on buildings maybe 3 of 4 levels high but never like this. Amazing Bill :)

Whoa! NIGHTMARE! Think it really would be a choice....a REAL choice with me, of flames or jump! That just looks a nightmare Bill, but a great (lol, no pun!), shot! Rob

Such a dizzying perspective! I feel like I'm about to fall over. Great grates, and a nice pun, hon! :D I love Chicago fire escapes, and this is a doozy!

bobrgallegos
What an awesome POV!!!!Wonderful perspective!!
T.Rex
I've seen them a lot in New York and some in San Francisco, but never such a high one. This really begs for a photo, particularily the perspective, with forshortening and converging lines, almost like a vertical train. I wonder how many people it can hold without collapsing. Also, not so nice a view from the windows of the left hand building. A very interesing photo, and great pun! Not exactly the image I was expecting = all the more fun with surprises! Keep up the good work! :-)

OHH GOSH! I think I would die of fear, if I had to go down on that. Superb shot indeed.
kansas
A scary escape option.
alanwilliams
dizzying indeed, what a toweringly wonderful image

Worth a few 'bob' as scrap!......"typical Scouse first opinion" :-) Well I've already mentioned I don't do heights, this seems just as bad, is there such a thing as reverse vertigo? coz this makes my head spin.I'm kind of with 'durleybeachbum' only I'd stick to the ground floor, just in case.....
goodoleboy
Well, you'd start out with acrophobia at the top and end up with claustrophobia when you finally reached the bottom, all out of breath. Or vice versa. Stellar POV, repetition and perspective in this shot, Bill.
whaleman
Great shot Bill, very thought-provoking!

Man, I love shots like this! This one is just spectacular, Bill! I guess hanging out in an alley can be a good thing photographically speaking!

Great capture and POV as well I would be too scared to walk down them...or even up.. I am terrified of height.... I would just find something wet and crawl on the floor until I found safety If you could find that in that building... I sure can't see anyone walking up it carrying groceries....and watching the milk jug land on someone's head LOL Great find and pic...... Hugs Susan~

outstanding shot Bill.
