Description

Near Channahon, Illinois, on the I&M Canal. This was our first stop after leaving Chicago. A bit different from the hustle and bustle of city life! We loved Chicago and enjoyed every minute of our time there, but drew a deep breath, shifted gears, and enjoyed every minute of our time on the canal! Thanks to Yvonne (lovelypoetess) for steering us toward this marvellous place, and for joining us on that Sunday in Chicago.

Nice catch (ha!). I've never caught a thing and probably couldn't kill the poor thing if I did but it does look like a great place to sit and spend some time.

Looks like a place I could spend a long, lazy afternoon just watching and listening to the water. Wonderful capture!

So peaceful! Isn't it interesting how the technological structures of another century are now turned into places of peace and enjoyment - old canals, old railroad beds, the Hi-Line in NYC.

One can be overwhelmed by big cities after a while and then it is a relief to come to such a place to rest mind and body :-) Wonderful shot, Tara.

Nice scene. The fishermen look very contented - and why wouldn't they be in a place like this. Well done.

Fine composition...makes me stare at the quiet fun these two men are enjoying. Fishing is not something that was taught to me as a boy...it is one of those things like golf and tennis I think I'd like if I had experienced it in an earlier life:)

A lovely spot for a bit of fishing and recover from the big city. I wonder if the fish were biting. A lovely photo.

Another lovely shot, Tara! I can just hear that water cascading. I love the interesting layers of color here - fascinating. Like Mike, I could just sit there all day enjoying the peace...

Oh, I love the fishermen perched, rather precariously! This is quite different from the hustle and bustle of the city on the edge of the lake! The colors are spectacular and the whole scene looks like something from a different age (with the exception of the very modern dress.) This is a brilliant shot. I love it.
