Description

Well, I finally relented and drained the pond, but only because Dr Vonn Krupp informed me 'Tailspin' had started drinking the battery acid. Oh I have no worries on health grounds, he does it all the time, it's the cost of the stuff. There is also the detremental effect it has on the urinals, though limescale is never a problem.(CHILDREN, DO NOT DRINK BATTERY ACID,IT'S EXPENSIVE AND 'TAILSPIN' IS A TRAINED IDIOT......OH YES AND IT'S DANGEROUS FOR NORMAL PEOPLE.)Anyway, the Type VII is now safe in dry dock and work has resumed, there is only one of them at the moment, I just added the close up of the 88mm deck gun because I like it. Further to yesterdays Q&A's, there is now a waterline version of this and next week Laurence Llewelyn Bowen will be calling at 'The Plant' to do initial designs for some interior sections. Right I'm off to my workshop to knock up some AA guns, Dr Vonn Krupp is working on the 'snorkel' and 'Tailspin' has been sent to the Chemist for some Bisodol. Interesting fact about (Bazze's) U99 The famous golden horsehoes on U-99 came about just before its first patrol in June 1940. When the anchor was raised a set of horseshoes were found attached to it. Taking this as a sign of good luck Kptlt. Otto Krestchmer had them welded to the tower on each side. The British destroyer that fatally wounded the U-99 on March 17th 1941, HMS Walker, also had a lucky emblem.....a horseshoe.

Love the U-Boat... may try to get one and recreate some "Land That Time Forgot" scenes from the book :) Will this have the jagged thing on the bow upper deck and the cable, etc? Looks fantastic so far!

AHA! a sub and the classic Type VII at that! Looks like a great model mate - super details and the like. I just love your accomcpanying rhetoric too, it's extremely funny when you write about your characters and we should have them feature more often i think. Cool facts too about the horse shoes - what a coicidence for sure!

Outstanding once again buddy. Its nearly time for anchor's away and full speed ahead. Or in Tailspin's case anchor's away, battery acid drunk and full speed to the head. Have a great weekend. ABIS continues next week.

Laurence Llewelyn Bowen???? What! couldn't you have got Linda Barker (eye candy)instead! A "Land That Time Forgot" scene would be awesome too! Superb progress and lovely detail on the deck gun when zoomed in. This is a very promising project :)

Darn! This SO funny - and preeder's reply, too! I'm laughing so hard I can scarecely type! Man, thanks for the battery acid laugh. With more such laughs, I might not need any anti-acid pills! Now I can't wait 'til the next adventure/mishap or whatever. Best for the plant if the doc keeps Tailspin "accidentally" locked in his room so he doesn't turn the snorkel into a hooka and smokes the entire sub crew out! Sheesh! I'm still laughing out loud. Keep up the good work! :-) PS - did Tailspin send us that wild storm you posted a photo of? Dreadful winds, rain, biting cold last night, hail mixed with rain today. Please lock him in for a while! :)

Looking really good, will be a great addition to the runtime, Tailspin has a few bad habits but what would a man be without a few bad habit's?

Looking good Neil. I've just returned to my 2009 files and relooked at my photos of U-505 in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry...thought it might be a Type VII but no, it is a Type IXC.

My friend's uncle served on this boat, and about 10 yrs ago he managed to get in touch with the surviving members of the crew. It even has it's own Facebook page!!
