Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
I did this last year but I was so tired of snow scenes I just shelved it. Now seems a good time for it.
Of all of Ken Gilliland's birds (and I have them all :)) this is my absolute favorite. Please zoom for a better view of him.
Thanks for all your kind comments on Linda's (hipps13's b-day card).
The Heron's in Linda's card were Chinese Pond Heron's from Ken's Songbird Remix Shorebirds collection 2. The foreground terrain was actually textured with a photo of rocks and overlaid with Vue water to create the effect. The waterfall was another terrain textured with Vue water and the white water parts and mist were painted in Photoshop. It was a fun experiment.

Dig all the elements in this Wintry scene and 'Happy Feet' dance of the Heron, but IMHO the shadow of the Heron is missing and would really nail this one, just a suggestion. Still a great scene and composition, well done. Xmas ~Cheers~

You are a woman of many talents, Patty! By its pose the bird is obviously thinking, "Man, my feet are freezing! Why didn't I fly south for the winter?" A marvelous image rich with details. The little clumps of grass poking through the snow and the leaves on the ground really add to the scene. The sky is spectacular. Speaking of snow, do you ever miss it down there in Florida?

"Snow Dance" is exceptionally beautiful, and ever so soft and subtle. The heron, one of my most favourite birds is a truly lovely addition to the entire scene. The atmosphere is so calming and soothing... how I would love to enjoy a brisk walk in this winter wonderland!
