Description

This photograph was from that afternoon when we walked around the Loop. We stared at domed ceilings, mused on the idea of Fort Dearborn, and Chip held forth from the superstructure of the Wabash Avenue Bridge. The sky turned dark and it rained harder than I imagined it ever raining, and the three of you saved me from my Northwest beliefs about rain and kept me dry. It was that afternoon, dear friend. Do you remember? I stood with you in the middle of the Wabash Bridge and looked back at the Loop, at that magical sky, those looming shadows, and that astonishing light. It was awe-inspiring. Perhaps my birthday gift to you is more than just a picture. I hope it is a re-living of a very special afternoon filled with love and laughter.
Happy Birthday, Corey!

Lovely POV, Dear Tara! I love that darkening and deepening sky, as it seems to be getting ready for rain. Rain has been rather perpetual here, though to see it from another perspective is really lovely. A most captivating mood and contrasting colours, and a most heart-felt B-day dedication for Corey!

A truly wonderful capture, I can sense that storm coming. Then there's that guy with the determined stride coming towards you...I see a story here. Happy birthday Corey!

There's something about people walking towards you on that bridge! I always wanna nab shots of whoever is walking on that bridge. You caught such intense shadows here, and as I remember that day, there were some really intense shadows. I've scarcely seen light in Chicago do that particular thing it did right here and it's incredibly dramatic. I'll refrain from Friends...Romans...countrymen...lend me your ears!" as there is no conveniently precarious bit of bridge superstructure to stand on as cabs zoom by, dangerously close.

A superb capture of this scene, Tara! It has such a wonderful 'feel' to it - I can almost smell the 'rainy' smell of an approaching storm. It's amazing how two people can stand at the same spot, and yet the photos are entirely different.... I saw Chip's photo of this scene earlier, and both are so uniqe.

That was an amazing experience. I have been in a lot of rainstorms but never one that blackened the sky so quickly, poured so hard and then magically moved on and allowed the sun to come back out within minutes. That was an unforgetable Chicago experience. This is perfect for Corey. Well done!!!

Yes, I do remember that afternoon! And very fondly, I might add. That was an odd bit of weather, but not REAL unusual for Chicago; unless people actually live here it's almost impossible for them to understand just how strange our weather is! And that light WAS pretty trippy wasn't it? You've captured a glimpse of it here along with the interesting shadows that resulted. That was a fun afternoon during a weekend of great moments. I'm glad we got to share them. Thanks for this great pic and the birthday wishes!
