Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Klade krém na kůži, nebo s čím přijde hadici znovu. Hmmm...I don't know about you but I suspect that particular line tends to...um...lose something in translation. It should be... It puts the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again. Just pretend I used my best, gravely Ted Levine voice. Okay, and now that I've rambled on in poorly-spelled Czech, I will say that this is a great photo. I love the crispness and the urbanness. This is, most definitely, a Chicago tradition, only now I wish the trains and buses were still green rather than dull! This is a super shot and Merry Birthday, um, I mean...Happy Christmas to you. Or something.

Czech beer from a Mexican grocer... this world is so colourful sometimes. Much like this wonderful train. What a lovely tradition. Alas we have nothing like this and even if we did Rob Ford would have cut it so that SUV drivers could save 3 cents per year on taxes. Though he did try to cut funds to the Santa Claus parade only to have his own supporter nearly scewer him. So maybe not. Anyways I have no Christmas Eve movie traditions but I always watch Blade Runner after ringing in the New Year. Cheers!

Have never tried Czech beer, but have tried Austrian dark (Dunkels Bier), Weiss Bier (white beer) in Munich, and a few others in-between. My favorite is the Dunkels, of course. :c) Merry Christmas to you and Chipka. I wish you well.

All the best to you and your friends! Czech beer with Hannibal Lecter would work well for me!

I love the idea of a holiday train! It seems rather random, as if one just steps onto it because it shows up, and goes wherever it takes you. A wonderful tradition! I hope you have a great holiday season, mixed feelings and all, and enjoy the heck out of whatever you decide to do after the movie and before the new year rings in. :)

Pass pivo a sušenky, prosím. Ah yes, I'd join any Chicagoan protest if the CTA ever felt that saving a few pennies was more important than rewarding its riders with this festive sight each year. There are some traditions that are a MUST and this appears to be one of them:) Good film indeed! And what an ending. The lady's face mirrors the season. Well done my friend...
