Description

(Please see full-size, but yikes, when you compress 6 megs to 512 KB, it's a squeeze! Harry, I'm sorry for the pixelization, but this was a challenge! I'll send the original soon...) I've done dedis for Harry before (goodoleboy, here), so was wondering what to say 'new'. A new perspective...but no: I want to get to the heart of his work, because I think his gallery is essential. It's that Harry shoots what he sees. He finds the picture in what's before him. (A very big deal.) My art teachers said, "one of the hardest things you'll do will be finding art in front of your nose." A poet once said: "The poem is under your feet: Find it there & you can find it anywhere..." And It isn't that he doesn't shoot unique subjects: Everyone who knows him knows he does---his sumptuous flowers or antique cars, sensuous underwater creatures or those exquisite captures of veterans marching like kings when it's hard for them to walk at all...it goes on. but Harry's not afraid to sit with a crack in a wall, or a mangy stray cat, or the poetry of a fence against late-day light. I mean, I look at my photos and realize I stay away from 3/4 of his subjects because I simply can't find their music. When harry sees them, he extracts their song, their stories, their rhyme, and to me that is essential. He understands an aged yet dignified car that's been sitting on his block for years, or the poetry of a simple fence: So when he comes to the 'dramatic' subjects, you realize they're earned, because he's paid homage to everything else---so when he gets to those beautiful rose-shots, they tell him: "You've earned the right to capture us because you found beauty in a simple twig..." That's what I mean by essential. Harry, this montage is my home, postworked in the usual manner. (And yeah, the bottom wave was in my gallery before: It wanted to be in the spotlight another time, what can I do...) You teach me to look wherever I am, and never say 'no' because the subject doesn't 'grab' me: You teach me to grab it. Thank you for doing that everyday, it's what we're here for & I think it's just grand. A very happy birthday to you & many, many more in the best of health & inspiration, Mark * * * Thanks so much for coming here when I've not yet commented on all of you. My hand is still healing. But I see every image (every one) and look forward sitting with them once more. Thank you for being so kind to me. A fine day to all! m.

Splendid work on this dedi to Harry, it is going to be one he will treasure for sure Mark. As always you obviously put a lot of care and effort into coming up with the perfect idea for him and it paid off. Can't get over the magical touches you added to each image, as each one makes your home appear to almost be a paradise of sorts. Surely this is like viewing it through your eyes, and as you pointed out so well above that is what makes this such a great dedi as Harry finds the picture in what's before him and brings out the best in it just as you have done here.

Variations for our friend Harry. A smashing piece...just like the wave in the last frame! As I look and in fact stare at your creation...I imagine myself walking around that part of the waterfront day after day. Suddenly, a rogue wave crashes onto the shoreline...knocking me to my knees as I hang onto my camera for dear life...oh, but that's a story for you to tell. lol. There is so much life and mirrored light here as well as liquid colors. I like this very much...talk about creative postwork that sings with its own voice! Wow. And Happy Birthday to you Harry...that's what this day is all about:)

A wonderful collage of beautiful images for Harry and I am sure he will be delighted with what you have written too. It is great to see a posting from you again and I hope that you had a very Happy Christmas and that your New Year will be a better one than this one was for you.

Fabulous! I sat staring at the first image for quite a while, loving the outlines and clarity and the whole "Chicago-ness" of it all, and then realized I'd forgotten there would be more. Scroll down, and it's another "ahhhhhhh" experience with the blending of what I for some reason assumed were lovely, fluffy trees. Then that third panel. Oh my! I love those clear, simple blues and greens, the limited palette, the clean look of the thing. Expecting the fourth panel to be a burst of light and coming upon this huge, massive, amazing burst of WATER, for pity's sake, made me realize I'd missed the point of the second panel. !!! Okay, NOW I get it! LOL! This is astonishing work, Mark. Just gorgeous. The wave crashes and receeds, and crashes again. It's brilliant! Love the result. A most excellent work!

OMG, stellar and superb in what thou hath wrought in this fabulous birthday dedication to moi, Mark! Amazing collage that reflects in a way what I often try to present to the Renderosity audience. Stunning POV, clarity, colors, contrasts, perspective, et al, all to knock one's socks off! in a word, AWESOME. And all this performed while nursing a still less than healed hand. In my usual humble manner, I am flabbergasted and stunned at this labor of love, which definitely includes the poignant narrative below, my friend. You captured my creative spirit and view of the world in that one. On the other side of the ledger, I feel so ancient and mortal today, but otherwise, thanks again!

An amazing travel along your panels, Mark. Discovers and dreams alternating in each one. Emotions and challenges too, but, yet, much tranquility , as i can see in the third panel..and it ends wonderfully with that powerful wave...with such strength and reality!!! Together with your words, i can read a beautiful story of life. It´s a wonderful image filled with colours and light !!! and it is a wonderful dedi. Happy Birthday to Harry.Wonderful New Year too. Thank you very much for pointing Harry´s gallery, Mark:)

What a lovely and very artistic creation, Mark. It moves through like a kind of symphony, from the stillness of the opening image, to the intricacy and excitement of the waves in the second, (intriguing how they look so much like clouds) to the crystal-like silence of the third and the crescendo at the end. This dedi is really so beautiful and it seems you also get to the heart and essence of the person. You see who they are and at the same time, so far beyond. CC
