The stark light, the biting cold...transmitted and in fact extended by your use of B&W. This conveys an emotion and lets us tap into your vision of the lake on a cold and probably windy winter day. Nicely done...and Happy New Year to you Mark. Having caught a glimpse of your first post...I really liked it. I understand why you took it down...but there's a story there that is so well expressed...hope we'll see it some other time. Peace and may 2012 bring you light, great joy and happiness. It is your time:)

You know how much I love that purple-hematite-mono thing you do. Wow. This is spectacular! The ice blows me away. It's got such a fascinating quality, and it's so ... extravagant! Ice here comes from the ice cube maker in the freezer, and to have it out there, just chillin' in the middle of the lake ... it's astonishing! Gorgeous shot with a lovely tone and superb composition. Happy New Year to you as well, dear one. I hope 2012 is a breeze!

Mark, this is a beautiful photo my friend. It has a very peaceful and calming feel to it, and for me at least represents your gallery so well. It troubles me to know the pain your in, and please don't push yourself too hard as we want you to get better. You are missed greatly and it is my hope that the new year will mean better days ahead for you and all if those hurting right now. Take care my Brother and have a Happy New Year. Please know you are in my prayers

A wonderfully emotive image, Mark; yes, stark is a good word, and cold, but also somehow monumental...as the ending of a year is meant to be, to usher in the seeds of a new one. I hope the new year brings you health, joy, and relief of pain, emotional and physical. Happy new year, Mark!

OMG, a photograph, snapped several millions miles away by an interplanetary robot rover, of the complete and pristine icy desolation of a planet never seen up this close, Mark. The scientists and engineers back on earth will be stunned to see what appears to be an intelligently constructed artifact in the background. Apparently, we are not alone in this vast universe. That said, an awesome capture of the stark and highly contrasted light and shadow effects, and cold, cold ambiance of the image, my friend. And, silly me, I almost forgot to wish you a happy and healthy 2012 New Year, replete with a rapid recovery.

A stunning light in this very beautiful capture. It looks so very cold here but hope it is warmer this year. I wish you a very happy new year and may it bring you good health and much more joy than 2011.

This reminds me of Stonehenge; it's that primal and even unreal. Though we know man didn't do this, it has a similar kind of presence you can't ignore. Simply beautiful!!
