Description

Subway ... Chicago, Illinois. Today is a double milestone for me. This is my 1800th post as well as my five-year anniversary on Renderosity! I remember when I first started here ... it was so strange! I felt like I had to make a distinction between those people I called my "real-life walking-around friends" and my Renderosity friends. Over the past five years, though, those lines have blurred and finally been erased. There are so many of you I count as friends, no matter how near or far you are geographically. We can meet here on line, and it's like you're next door. It amazes me, when I count the people I've met in person, that some of you aren't on that list. I feel like I know you so well that I have to stop and think ... have I met so-and-so? Oh no ... not yet! Those of you I've met person now number sixteen! The list includes people from as nearby as my home state of Washington ... as well as from Oregon, California, Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Wisconsin ... and as far away as South Africa. Did you know South Africa is as far away from Seattle as you can get and still be on land? And then there was that one guy from Kansas who was so much fun to be around, I married him! :) My time here on Renderosity has literally been a life-changing experience. This is not just an art site, it's a group of friends and family that is every bit as important to me as those friends and family with whom I spend holidays and meet for lunch. Thank you all for your friendship, support, and inspiration. You rock! :)

Milestones are such a great thing and I love the fact that I first "met" you while I still lived in Prague. In fact, I remember the blue kitchen wall, and at other times, bearded dragons bobbing their heads at me in odd, bearded dragon territorial displays...and people from all over the world being a part of my day to day existence...and then. From that time on, I've loved every bit of your gallery and it's quite a giggle-inducing joy to see THIS picture, knowing exactly where it is and where we were going and that Pecan Sandies and long, winding, FUN conversations were just on the horizon and growing closer! And as for this shot itself: it's an incredible treat. You really make the Chicago Avenue, subway station entrance look marvelous! I love the way you can't see the city crud, and yet it looks wholly urban, wholly real and fantastically efficient! Congratulations on your great milestones, and I'm looking forward to more, and I'm also thinking: "Wouldn't it be fun for the Renderosity Ninjas to meet up in Prague or Moscow?" That's a bit of a commute, however, but worth it, I think. Imagine how we'd make those places look! This is brilliant! And THANK YOU for your support and friendship and pecan sandies and inspiration; it all means quite a lot!

Such a very great shot and very well seen. Especially I like the light reflections and the flatness suggested by the floors tiles.

A quote for your special day, "It's when ordinary people rise above the expectations and seize the opportunity that milestones truly are reached." Anon. Extraordinary capture and postwork taking the utilitarian and transforming it into art. Very niceeee:)

Congratulations on so much to celebrate! I love this image partly because it is so visually confusing: and also why am I going DOWN to get OUT of a subway? Briliant!

'Shine a light' into the Subway - and onto the tiles, I love how you picked up on it, to make this image come alive ... Is there another elevator to go up and out again? I agree with Andrea - just a tad confusing ;) Wowser - 1800! that's an enormous achievement and a very big number and some skill you have there, Tara - not even to mention such a huge family ... CONGRATULAIONS on EVERYTHING! Lovely words spoken, right below your post - so warm and welcoming, I would love to be part of that community, because occasionally and deep down, we all feel the need to 'belong'! and as Chipka suggested, wouldn't it be nice for all to meet and greet somewhere nice, as long as it is warm - maybe even here in the land of 'OZ' ;) BB

Congratulations on your 1800th posting and is it 5 years all ready. Time really flies by doesn't it. I agree with you about making great friends at RR and I would be very lost without it. It does feel that we have all ready met and yet I know that this is not going to be possible unless I win Lotto. Your gallery is a credit to you and I love to see everything through your eyes. Great light and shade in this one.
