Description

The Tree of Life, a sculpted 145 foot (44.2 meters) tall 50 foot (15.24 meters) wide tree, is the centerpiece and icon in Walt Disney Worlds Animal Kingdom theme park. It is a swirling tapestry of 325 animals carved into the bark of this massive attraction. This is a photo of the back side so look for creatures starting upper left, Bat, Stag Horn Beetle, Catfish, Meerkat, Snail, Baleen Whale, Iguana, 2 Giraffe, Owl, Scorpion, Hippo, Monkey, Grub, and a praying Mantis up in the right corner. In the lower half is a Crab, Octopus, Emu, Grisly Bear, a herd of Wilder Beast, Peacock, Sea Turtle and a Jelly Fish. I am sure some of you will find more or even come up with better names. There are many more creatures up in the upper branches. This photo was taken in 2005 with my old Minolta. Zoom is a must. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

It really is a fabulous tree and the carvings are so beautifully done. The back side looks just as good as the front side. It is a lovely clear capture too. I would love to see this tree up close for real.

The is even cooler close up. I like the herd of Wilder Beast. They look like they are crossing a stream. Magnificent on zoom. Excellent capture!

So fantastic to see this such big, Dana. Thank you for sharing it. It's so wonderful made, also the photo! b.t.w., one of our children did her practicum for her study "tourism" in this park. She worked one year and half behind the information desk, and if there were problems with German and Dutch tourists in the park.
