My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I see them!! Wonderful panorama Tara and I can also see some dust being kicked up in the distance left of center.

Very nice panorama Tara, and what is that thing on the far side of the road just a bit left of center?

Great pano this clump of cliffs are amazing, no moer so that they are stuck in the middle of such a flat expanse. I wish Whaleman hadn't pointed out that thing he's got me curious too.
awjay
are the rest of the cliffs in the trunk of your car? excellent scale shot

Extraordinary geology! SO flat, and so easy to get lost, blown away, fried by the sun or frozen to death. Amazing that anyone settled in this landscape. Yes..that thing...?

Oooo, like this pano of a fascinating place. At first glance this looks like a ruin...but no... For those who do not know the geology of Kansas, the vast rolling flatness in the picture above has a simple explanation...millions of years ago the central part of the USA, which includes Kansas and all the states of the Great Plains, were at the bottom of a shallow inland sea. Today there is abundant farmland, grazing land, coal and oil...as well as fossils here:)

Stunning panoramic view Tara. Reminds me of the Karoo which we traveled through recently. Luckily we missed most of the Karoo as we were on the bus at night time.God Bless.

Zoom is a must! You know Tara - if you take the amazing rock formation out the picture, this could easily be our Free State Province where I grew up! Wonderful pano with great detail!

I remember driving through Nebraska with endless cornfields when we saw a sign saying "Scenic Overlook". Soooo..... we went down that road and there was a two story stone tower which we climbed. And guess what we saw. More cornfields...endless corn fields....sort of reminds me of this picture...except for the rock formation. Haha!

A very good panoramic photo!

Great panorama that definitely needs a zoom to be appreciated. An interesting & surprising structure to find in the middle of the flatlands of Kansas...

Very impressive! looks like a cool place to explore

I didn't know there was anything quite so tall in Kansas; somehow in the many trips I've taken through there I've managed to miss it. Guess it was probably because I was driving as fast as I could to get through all the flatness! What an amazing and beautiful structure. So I guess maybe it was all underwater at some point, to carve out those pillars and arches? Great pano shot, I see Bill and camera and the car and oil pumper too!

SUPERB PANO !!!!

What a great pano, Tara. We spent 18 months in Kansas and I sure didn't see anything that looked like this. When we moved there one of Ken's friends gave him a bag of cement so when he got there he could build his own "hill" to stand on since everything is so flat. He thought we would miss the hills and mountains of Oregon.

WOW! This is stunningly beautiful I almost didnt know the world was so HUGE :-) A really beautiful capture, Tara. :)))

Quite amazing ! That kind of rock on a flat landscape. Interesting to see it on Google.

Great panorama! Fantastic capture! :)

Oh wow! This is stunning. At first I was reminded of a distant fort, and on full zoom, the true scale of this picture just decompresses and fills everything. I noticed Bill immediately and I love the fact that something like this is just standing out in the middle of the Midwest. I mean...WOW! I'm also listening (again) to the soundtrack to Kingdom of Heaven and the music fits...of course it's by the guy who did the music to the first two Narnia films and so big is something he does well! How wonderful, and I'm amazed at how Kansas (that part of it, at least) could easily be a landmark on some Nemaean world. Hmmm...something's percolating.

Oh dear!! did Bill forget to pay the bar tab? I see a cloud of dust off to the left, a posse in hot pursuit?? :-) Stunning pano Tara, and as you say having 'little' Bill in there sure gives a great idea of the scale and expanse (of the landscape, not of Bill ;-) Got to be a Fave....

Such a big vast place that even this large outcropping looks a little lost. ;) Excellent scenic pano landscape capture! :)
