Description

Being on the move, acting quickly and moving on. It gets to be a habit after a while. This is a window on the ever busy market in old town Herat, next to the border with Iran, in western Afghanistan.

Great capture but it's so heartbreking to see women having to wear those covers.

I agree with auntietk: This is a world I will never see in my live, I´m nearly sure.. I only can look at it through our TV and have to believe what they tell me... So thanks for sharing and thanks for the great quality of the pic!

my thoughts are that while covered and stifled, there is a love of the bright, bold and colorful. I see inexplicable and deep contrasts and complexity. I see a deep-rooted fear of freedom and spontaneity kept in check by heavy control. The goal being to protect. Like always, the things you love get destroyed under a heavy hand, but then again I see the colors, so perhaps not. For much of the world submissiveness is not highly valued - difficult if not impossible to understand. I can't begin to imagine the contradictory feelings of those that melt tradition with the outside world.
